About Betty

Betty is now ready for adoption.

Betty came to us from a Facebook selling site and we are so glad we managed to get her safe into rescue.

When speaking to her owner, who thankfully agreed to let us help, we were told Betty had a possible mammary tumour or blocked duct that she could not afford to investigate or treat. We therefore arranged to pick her up, but nothing prepared us for the size of the lump and we feared the worst – especially when the vets felt the lump was sinister and most likely to have spread due to its size.

We were shocked but so thrilled to get a call from the vets during her surgery to say that there were no tumours found and that the lump was a huge double hernia. This was repaired and Betty is now free to enjoy the rest of life without the huge, cumbersome lump she’s had to carry around for goodness knows how long (photo included).

Betty is a lovely six-year-old Pomeranian who unlike a lot of poms is happy to meet visitors and strangers alike. She loves everyone!

She is very sociable around other dogs and had always lived with them before coming to us, so we would love to find her a home with at least one more similar-sized breed.

She is not cat tested.

Betty has a little separation anxiety, in that she will desperately try to follow you out of the door when you leave. Once left, however, she is fine for a couple of hours on her own. Another reason we would ideally prefer her to go to a home with other dogs is so she has company when her humans are away from home.

Betty’s vet care is now complete so she can go a little further afield for the right home. She is a sweet-natured, engaging and affectionate little girl.

Betty is in foster in Derby.

(Please note that some of the photos are before Betty’s hernia repair so she looks very rotund!).
