About Coco

Coco is now ready for adoption. Here is her foster-mum’s write/up…

“Coco is a really fun little girl, who has a history of resource guarding behaviours so needs a home experienced with this.

She has a nervous, cautious side but mostly is excited and enthusiastic. She’s keen to learn and happy to train with kibble.

Her previous home found that she’d try to slip walking gear so used a 3 point harness (which will go with her) but she mouths hands while having it put on and would prefer a martingale type collar.

In her previous foster home, she was doing bratty mouthing when being pulled away from jumping up at counters and tables, etc which is why she moved over to us.

We’ve not had her loose in the main part of the house as we crate new fosters in specific rooms/areas with access to the garden in the day, so we can’t speak to exactly how she will be around the home, but she’s fab at crating. She runs in from the garden straight up her steps into her bed. The only times she’s barked has been if seeing other dogs climbing up on me nearby or, if one runs past quickly, she’ll do a single yap.

She’s been great with all our dogs and other fosters (collies, spaniels, a Bernese). The only potential issue is that she polices excitement a bit. She has told off Jack, one of our other foster dogs, when he was excited in a gateway, and told off a couple of others next to the patio doors. Nothing came of it, but if being adopted to live with other dogs (which she’d prefer and I think she needs) she’d have to be matched to ones that don’t escalate if she has a space guarding / excitement policing moment. She’d absolutely benefit from doing gundog style games like Scurry Dog. She needs people who want a fun project!”.

Coco is 18 months old.

She has been first vaccinated and will need to return to Scarsdale Vets for her second vaccination. She will also be on a spay contract, meaning that she will need to stay local to the rescue so we can pay for this to be done at our contracted vets.
