Sunny lives with a foster carer, so you meet Sunny after applying, not at the rescue's address.

Sunny is no longer on Wonky Pets Rescue's website. We noticed on 24 October 2026. That usually means they've found a home.

About Sunny

Sunny - A Special Little Gentleman Looking for His Forever Retirement Home

Meet Sunny, a wonderful 14-year-old Terrier (7.4kg) with the sweetest soul and so much love left to give. He is castrated, microchipped, flea/worm treated and had had a dental with us.

His blood work showed some raised liver enzymes and a subsequent scan revealed he has a problem with his gallbladder causing it to be filled with a think gooey type matter, he is now on lifetime medication to help thin this out and support his gallballder function (he will come with a large supply of the medication which will last for probably the next year), he is on Denamarin to support his liver (can be simply purchased on amazon) and twice daily antihistermines (Piriton) to help with the itchy skin he can get. We support his skin with the right grain free, hyperallogenic foods and regular baths. Sunny is otherwise very well and enjoys a good quality of life.

Sunny has had a difficult life and spent much of it being outdoors for long periods, but despite everything he's been through, he remains an incredibly loving, gentle and affectionate little dog. All he wants now is a family of his own and a warm, comfortable home where he can enjoy the love and security he truly deserves.

Sunny is blind, but please don't let that put you off. He navigates his surroundings remarkably well and doesn't let his lack of sight hold him back. Once he knows his environment, he gets around confidently and enjoys life just like any other dog.

He is fully house trained, easy to live with, and has a wonderfully sweet nature. Sunny is great with other small dogs, can happily live with dog savvy cats, and would be suitable to live with gentle, respectful children aged 8 years and over.

We are searching for a truly committed home that will cherish Sunny during his golden years and give him the comfort, kindness and attention he has waited so long for.

Sunny will need:

- A loving, committed home

- An enclosed and secure garden preferably without grass as this can trigger his itchiness

- Someone able to administer his daily medication

- Understanding that his blindness does not define him and love him unconditionally.

Please look beyond Sunny's age and medical condition and see the wonderful little dog underneath. He has so much love to give and deserves the chance to spend the rest of his life knowing what it feels like to be truly cherished.

Sunny is in foster in Swadlincote, Derbys but can be rehomed further afield to the perfect home. Sunny's adoption is by donation only, its much more important to us to find the right committed loving home for him.
