About Rosa
Rosa is a striking 2-year-old German Shepherd weighing approximately 25kg. She came into the care of Islay Dog Rescue through no fault of her own following a change in her family's circumstances.
When Rosa first arrived at the rescue, she was understandably reserved around new people, which is typical of her breed. Given a little time and space during introductions, her curiosity quickly takes over and her affectionate, playful personality begins to shine through.
Rosa walks beautifully on the lead and loves exploring new places and taking in the world around her. Having previously lived in a home environment, we have been told that she is house-trained.
Once she has formed a bond with her people, Rosa is incredibly loving and enjoys nothing more than cuddles, kisses and spending time with those she trusts.
Like many young dogs, Rosa still displays some puppy-like behaviours and can be mouthy when excited or during play. This is a common trait in adolescent dogs and is not a sign of aggression. Her adopters will need to be committed to continuing her training using positive reinforcement methods to help her develop appropriate ways to channel her excitement.
Rosa cannot live with cats. She could live with dog-savvy children aged 14 years and over who will respect her boundaries and allow her the time she needs to settle into her new home.
Although Rosa can be vocal when she first meets unfamiliar dogs, she has successfully walked alongside other Islay dogs and has settled well without showing any signs of stress or aggression. With careful introductions, she may be suitable to live with a compatible resident dog.
An intelligent and eager young German Shepherd, Rosa is looking for a family willing to invest the time, patience and positive training needed to help her reach her full potential. As a young, energetic dog, she will require plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation to keep her happy and fulfilled. She would be an excellent companion for adopters interested in activities such as agility, scent work, enrichment games and ongoing training.
Rosa has so much love to give and is patiently waiting for a family to call her own.
She is fully vaccinated, microchipped, treated for parasites and has been behaviourally assessed. Rosa will be rehomed with a neutering agreement.
Her adoption fee is £400, which goes directly towards helping rescue and care for dogs just like her.
Could you be the one to offer Rosa the loving forever home she truly deserves?
