About George
George is a charming 6-year-old Dalmatian, weighing approximately 31kg. He came into the care of Islay Dog Rescue through no fault of his own following a change in his family's circumstances.
George is an incredibly affectionate dog who absolutely loves people and enjoys plenty of cuddles and fuss. He is happy to approach new people and readily accepts attention, making friends wherever he goes.
He is a clever boy who already knows commands such as sit and paw, and he walks nicely on a lead, making him a wonderful walking companion. We have also been told that George is house trained. He enjoys his treats, which will make any ongoing training both enjoyable and rewarding.
George has shown some nervousness around certain moving objects, such as walking sticks and large golf-style umbrellas. He is making good progress and would benefit from continued positive reinforcement and gentle desensitisation training to help build his confidence in these situations. With patience, encouragement, and consistent support, George is likely to become increasingly comfortable when encountering new experiences out and about.
As we are unable to directly assess our dogs with children at the rescue, any recommendations regarding children are based on the dog's known history, observed behaviour, and the characteristics they have displayed while in our care.
Though George has previously lived with younger children with no issues, due to his nervous reaction to moving objects which he has shown within kennels we believe would be best suited to a home with dog-savvy children over 10 years who can respect his space and allow him time to settle into his new home. We would ask that any children who live in the prospective home attend one of the two pre-adoption visits, giving them the opportunity to meet Mia and ensuring everyone is comfortable before proceeding with the adoption
He has previously lived with another dog and, although he can be wary when meeting unfamiliar dogs, we believe that with careful introductions he could successfully live with a resident canine companion. George cannot live with cats or small animals.
George is looking for a forever home where he will be given the time and patience to adjust to his new life. Once he has settled, he is sure to become a devoted and loving companion. He will thrive in a home where he receives regular exercise along with plenty of playtime, affection, and companionship. As an intelligent boy, he would also benefit from enrichment activities, ongoing training, and interactive toys to help keep his mind active.
George is a truly lovely character who will make an amazing addition to the right home. If you can offer him the love, patience, and security he deserves, he will repay you with endless affection, loyalty, and companionship.
George is not only a strikingly handsome and much less common liver-spotted Dalmatian, but he also has heterochromia, giving him one blue eye and one brown eye. These unique features, together with his wonderful personality, make him a truly special dog and one in a million.
George is fully vaccinated, microchipped, treated for parasites and assessed. He will come with a neutering agreement.
His adoption fee is £400, which goes directly towards helping rescue and care for dogs just like her.
Could you give George the devotion and love he needs and will return to his new owners?
