Dusty

About Dusty

Dusty is a beautiful 2‑year‑old Rottweiler cross, around 36kg, with a big personality to match her size. Her start in life was painfully unfair — abused, bred from far too young, and passed through a shelter in England before finally reaching Islay Dog Rescue. Yet despite everything, she remains a girl with light in her eyes, a playful spirit, and a huge capacity for affection.

Because so little is known about Dusty’s early life, we cannot say whether she is toilet trained. What we do know is that she has developed resource guarding around food, so she cannot live with other dogs or with children. She needs a home where her boundaries will be respected and her training continued with patience and kindness. Any adopter must have a solid understanding of resource guarding and ideally experience with similar breeds.

Dusty is still a young girl with plenty of energy. She walks nicely on the lead, enjoys exploring new places, and loves a good run in our secure arena where she’ll chase a ball or roll on her back with pure joy. Despite her past, she genuinely enjoys spending time with people and leans in for belly rubs and tickles, soaking up every bit of gentle affection offered.

She is clever, food‑motivated, and eager to learn. Her favourite treats — especially chicken and ham — will be a huge help in her ongoing training. What she needs most is time, patience, love, and understanding. A quiet home with a committed family who use positive training methods is essential for her to continue healing from her abusive past and to grow into the wonderful companion she is capable of being.

Dusty is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for parasites. She will be neutered before adoption.

Her adoption fee is £400, which goes directly toward helping save more dogs like her.

Could you be the forever home this gorgeous girl has been waiting for?
