About Teddy Bear

** Long term medical foster**

Please meet out beautiful Teddy Bear looking for a long term foster home.

On arrival Teddy reduced the team to tears as he’s one of the most unusual, unproportioned, badly bred dogs we have all seen in a long time. Saved by some wonderful vet nurses who could see how loveable he was, the team took one look at him and promised him that we would make him comfortable, happy and ensure he could live his best possible life.

We asked his wonderful foster mum to write an update for his profile and she couldn’t wait to tell us everything about this sweet boy but this is some of what she had to say…

‘Teddy has the sweetest nature he’s such a loving boy, happiest when with his person / people! He loves nothing more than a mooch and playing with his toys but his absolute favourite thing is chin and belly rubs and will wiggle his bum as soon as you pay him any attention. He’s very vocal! I don’t mean that he barks a lot (although he does patrol the house very fervently). He grunts when he moves and poops.. and snores… He’s also quite windy, so be warned… 😉 He’s not the bravest of dogs, he will tend to shout or run away from any different or scary – He barked at the Christmas decorations until he got used to them! he’s quite nosey so will try and investigate things until it’s too terrifying and then he will leap away from it. Due to his body shape he is not the most mobile so while he can manage small steps and kerbs, he will need steps/ramps to help him in and out of the car, on and off the sofa & bed! In general, what he lacks in skills he makes up for in enthusiasm 😉 He can’t walk long distances but loves a 10-15 min mooch around a few times a day (note, this will usually be a meander rather than a trot), he does do the occasional sprint (usually greeting you when you come home) but I watch for him getting out of breath / slowing up and then calm things down for him. House training has gone well and we have a routine now which benefits him loads. He is very responsive to training – as with all dogs he does well with repetition & routines helps not only with training but also confidence (he is a nervous nelly) he’s a happy little soul and pretty low maintenance for which you will be rewarded with as much love and affection as his big heart can provide.’

Teddy does have medical needs and will need a home that is happy to monitor him and continue giving him medication. His wonderful foster has worked hard on this and while he’s not keen he will begrudging let it happen! We are really happy to go into more detail with prospective adopters and Holly Hedge will continue to support him.

If you have time, patience and love a big cuddly, affectionate pup please do get in touch as he deserves the best and we are keen to find it for him!
