Hello, I’m Charles Dance, a happy and affectionate ex-racing Greyhound looking for my forever home.

I’m a lovely boy who enjoys gentle affection and, if you stop giving me a fuss before I’m ready, I’ll give you a little nudge to let you know I’d quite like some more! I particularly enjoy being brushed around my neck and will subtly ask you to carry on if you dare to stop. I’m rather good at making my feelings known without making too much of a fuss!

I’m happy meeting new people, although I’m not the sort of boy who immediately seeks out attention from everyone I meet. I’m quite happy to say hello and then carry on with my day.

I’ve shown some curiosity about toys too. I am interested in the squeak of a toy and will go over to investigate, although I’ve not quite gone as far as picking one up for a proper play. Perhaps I’m simply waiting for the right director to shout “action!” before I reveal my hidden talents! 🎬

I’m an ex-racing Greyhound and I’ve never lived in a home before, so it will be a whole new experience for me. There will be lots for me to learn, from household routines and noises, to understanding what is expected of me. I’ll need patient and understanding adopters who will give me plenty of time to settle in and adjust to home life.

I don’t expect to become an expert overnight, I’ll need my new family to take things at my pace and help me discover all the good things that come with living in a home. After all, even the most experienced actor needs time to learn a new role!

🏃 Zoomies! Now, this is where I really come into my own…Give me a secure (sole use) paddock and I absolutely LOVE a good zoom around! I might be a gentleman most of the time, but once I get the opportunity to stretch my legs, I can certainly put on a performance. 🎬💨

I’m hoping to find a family who understands that I’m starting a completely new chapter of my life. I may have spent my racing days knowing exactly what was expected of me, but home life is a whole new role to learn.

I’m a happy, affectionate boy with a lovely personality, and with a little time and patience I’m sure I’ll settle into my new part beautifully. So if…

✅You’ve owned a dog before.

✅You are comfortable with a dog who must stay on the lead and wear a muzzle in public (this is due to prey drive).

✅You are happy to come to Gables at least a couple of times a week until I am ready to come home.

✅You don’t have a garden (yes, that really is ok! as long as you can commit to booking off lead paddocks at least once a month). If you do have a garden but it’s not secure, that’s cool too as long as you agree to keep me on a long line and stay with me while I’m out. If you do have a secure garden (fencing at least 5 ft) then that’s fantastic, you can just open the door and let me play.

With the right family, I’m ready to leave my racing days behind and take centre stage as someone’s much-loved companion.

After all, every good actor needs the right stage and I’m hoping my forever home will be mine. ❤️🐾”
