About Romeo
Hello, my name is Romeo, but my friends here know me as Sweet Prince! I’m a charismatic, cheeky chap with a big personality and a mind of my own. I like things done my way, thank you very much, and I’m rather fond of thinking I’m in charge!
Once I’ve formed a bond with someone, I become a very loyal companion. I have a special place in my heart for my favourite people, and one of my absolute favourite things is snuggling up inside a jacket. Yes, inside it! Even better if you’re still wearing it. Who needs a dog bed when you can have a human-sized cuddle cave?
I can be anxious around new people, and I won’t be rushing into friendships with just anyone. I need time, patience and understanding to learn that I can trust you. But if you let me go at my own pace, you’ll discover the lovely character beneath my cheeky exterior.
At the moment, I have my own little bed in the supervisors’ room at Gables, which is where I live full time, or at least until I find my forever home! You’ll often find me sitting proudly on the desk, keeping a watchful eye on the world outside the window. Someone has to keep tabs on everything, after all!
Other dogs can make me feel worried as I’m not very confident when I am out and about. When there is distance or a barrier I can be quite vocal, but my confidence quickly slips away if a dog actually approaches me and I would prefer to run away than put up a fight. I’m particularly upset by big or very bouncy dogs, however I have been able to make friends with smaller, calm dogs and I have even enjoyed a game of chase recently.
I’m looking for a quiet home with experienced owners who understand that trust takes time. I’ll need someone who believes in positive training, but also accepts me for who I am, warts and all. In return, you’ll have a wonderfully charismatic companion who will keep you entertained, make you smile and, if you’re lucky, claim your jacket as his very own royal retreat.
