About Heidi

Please note - we do not rehome dogs to families with children under the age of 10.

Heidi is sweet, clever, well-trained, good with cats and dogs and lovely with children. At c.14kg, FULLY SIGHTED, born in 2021 and in foster in Derbyshire, this girl has everything going for her. Looking for an absolutely cracking dog? Stop here.

Heidi was adopted as a 3-month-old pup in 2021; she was one of the Annie’s Trust dogs from the Adjud shelter in Romania. Heidi lived in a home with cats, children, teenagers and another dog and was much loved loved for nearly five years. But two cases of tragic illness in the family saw us moving her into foster care.

Being such a clever dog, and so food orientated, Heidi has been easy to train. She knows many commands and will walk nicely to ‘heel’. Having been trained as a puppy she is very used to living in a family, and by nature she is eager to please. Heidi loves human attention and company.

Heidi is fully housetrained, sleeps well through the night, is happy to be left alone for short periods and travels well. She behaved nicely on her vet visits. She eats well and isn’t at all fussy.

Like many clever dogs, Heidi is a sensitive soul and takes a while to warm up to new adults (although she instantly trusts children). Once she has learnt to trust her person she bonds very strongly and is hugely affectionate and cuddly. She is a little skittish with new loud noises but enjoys the hustle and bustle of a busy household with lots going on. She currently lives with two teenagers.

Heidi is nicely lead trained and walks very happily alone or with other dogs. She is best walked by somebody calm and confident and gains a lot of reassurance from a calm, happy human.

She is happy meeting calm dogs on lead, and her holidays spent boarding on a farm with 20 other dogs seemed to bring out the best in her. She enjoys the company of the other dogs in her current foster home and has lived with cats without issue.

Heidi is an affectionate little dog who just loves to be part of whatever you’re doing, and she loves touch and cuddling. She is a bright dog who needs engagement, and with a calm and confident family she will be - in the words of her fosterer - the 'perfect dog.'

Type of Home Sought

A home with activity would suit Heidi - where either there are either lots of people to interest her, or lots going on. Not noisy or stressful, calm but with things to engage her and people who will spend time with her.

Heidi is a medium to high energy level dog who will need mental stimulation and exercise.

Probably Heidi will be best living with another dog…but she could be an only dog if her people are sufficiently engaging for her and can give her the time and stimulation she needs.

Heidi has lived successfully with cats, but as always we would recommend they are dog confident cats.
