Good with

  • Cats — no: “No - I’ve never lived with cats before, so my humans think it would be best for me to find a lovely forever home without any feline friends”
  • Other dogs — maybe: “Potentially - Possibly! When I first arrived into rescue, my previous owners said I was reactive towards other dogs. However, since being here, I haven’t shown any signs of reactivity or aggression! My humans think I might really enjoy having a playmate who can match my high energy levels! They’ll soon be getting to know more about my play style and assessing whether I’d be happy living with another dog. Once they know a little more about me, they’ll update this section. Paws crossed I might be able to have a furry best friend! 🐾”
  • Children — yes: “Teenagers: Yes - I could happily live with teenagers who have previous experience with dogs and would love to be actively involved in looking after me, spending time with me and helping me thrive! 🐾; Young children: No - I’m a big cuddle bug who absolutely loves affection and snuggles! However, I’m also a big, strong boy, so my humans think I’d be best suited to a home where there are no children under 13 living or regularly visiting.”

About Vincent

Hi everyone! My name is Vinnie, but my friends sometimes call me Vin, or Vincent if they’re feeling fancy! This is the name I arrived at the sanctuary with.

I’m an incredibly friendly, affectionate boy with a BIG personality and lots of energy to burn! I’m looking for an active family who can keep up with my enthusiasm for life. Ideally, my new humans will have experience with a breed like mine and understand just how much exercise, stimulation and engagement I need to keep me happy!

One of my absolute favourite things is training! I love learning new things, especially when there are tasty treats involved. I’m a proper foodie, so the way to my heart is definitely through my tummy! I really enjoy activities that keep my brain busy, and I thrive when I have something fun to focus on.

I do enjoy playing with toys, but there are a few things my future family should know. I can sometimes be a little protective over fluffy toys, and I have shown guarding behaviour with one of these during my time at the sanctuary. Because of this, my carers recommend avoiding fluffy toys to help prevent any issues. Hard plastic toys are a different story! I’m not particularly bothered about those. I might chase one if you throw it, but whether I bring it back is entirely up to me! If you’d like to know more about my toy preferences and how best to manage them, our dog trainer, Gary Mathlin, is happy to offer further advice via email upon request.

Now, here’s something else you should know about me… I’ve got springs for legs! I’m a very bouncy boy and can jump incredibly high, especially when I’m excited! Because of this, I’ll need a very secure garden with fencing over 7ft high to help keep me safe.

Above all, I’m a super friendly boy with so much love to give. I absolutely adore affection, spending time with people and being involved in whatever you’re doing!

If you’re an active, experienced dog lover looking for a fun, energetic and affectionate companion, I might just be the boy for you!

Could you be the family I’ve been waiting for? Lots of love, Vinnie! 🐾💙

Every pound makes a difference. Every life is worth it.

Do I have any medical issues? No - I’ve recently been to the vets for a check-up, and I’m pleased to say they gave me a clean bill of health! I’m in excellent shape, and all my vaccinations are up to date! My next booster vaccination is due on the 3rd September 2027. My previous vet records mention that I’ve had some trouble with sensitive skin in the past, but thankfully, my vet couldn’t find any problems at my recent visit. I haven’t been neutered just yet, but this is something I’ll need to have done in around a year’s time.

Am I good on the lead? No - The short answer is… not just yet! When I first arrived at the rescue, I hadn’t really been taught how to walk nicely on a lead. I’m a big, strong, enthusiastic boy, and I didn’t quite understand what was expected of me! But don’t worry, I’m a clever lad and I’m learning fast! I spent my first week working closely with the lovely in-house trainer and animal welfare team, who have been helping me master this very important skill. They’re super proud of me because I’m already making excellent progress! ⭐ I’d really benefit from a forever family who have previous experience with positive, force-free training and who are happy to continue helping me learn and improve. The best part? My trainer will still be there to offer ongoing support and guidance once I’ve settled into my forever home, so we can continue working towards making me the very best boy I can be!

Do I have any fears? Not that my humans have noticed so far! I’m a happy, confident boy who takes most things in his stride! With firework season approaching, they’ll be keeping an eye on how I react and will update this write up soon!

What are my exercise requirements? I’m a fit, healthy young boy who really enjoy using my brain and learning new things! I’ll need at least two hours of exercise and training each day, including walks, off-lead playtime and fun training sessions. I’d love an active family who will challenge me with activities like agility, hoopers, scentwork or even working towards something such as the Good Citizen Gold Award scheme🏅 I’m not just looking for basic training, I’m looking for a job! I want to be part of a brilliant human-and-dog team where we can learn & grow together
