- Breed
- Beagle X
Good with
- Cats — maybe: “Potentially - Duncan has come from a home where he lived with 2 cats, but they were kept separately. Apparently this was not due to any "aggression" from Duncan. Due to this, we would consider applications from a home with dog savvy cats, that have access to the outdoors. Please note - We cannot accept applications from homes where the cat's have not lived with a dog before. Dog's visiting the home does not count.”
- Other dogs — yes: “Yes - Duncan hasn't lived with other dogs before but has the potential to bond with others. Initial observations show that he is very keen to make doggy friends. He has regular play dates with two staff dogs (both Labradors).”
- Children — yes: “Teenagers: Yes; Young children: No - 11+ - Duncan has not lived with children before, & would therefore suit a home with older children or an adult only home.”
About Duncan
Introducing Duncan! (Formerly Jaxon)
Duncan is a beautiful Beagle-Spaniel mix looking for a fresh start. Due to his breed, he will need a secure garden, and it’s essential that any neighbours are understanding of what we affectionately call “the Beagle bark.” Duncan is not recommended for first time dog owners.
This affectionate pup loves to cuddle and forms strong bonds quickly. While he may feel a bit anxious around new people and unfamiliar places, he enjoys treats, relishes tasty meals, and loves to play fetch, especially with his Scooby balls!
Our team is getting to know Duncan better and will provide updates as we learn more about him. So far, he’s starting to come out of his shell and is quite energetic, he practically rockets out of his kennel! He gets incredibly excited for walks and can hardly contain himself when it’s time to put on his harness. He is also crate trained and responds well to cues like sit, paw, and middle.
As Duncan is not yet neutered and is waiting for a chemical implant, he can sometimes become overstimulated and may attempt to grip or hump his handlers.
Not everyone can offer a forever home – but you can still change Duncan’s life, and the lives of many more animals like them.
By donating to All Creatures Great and Small, you’re helping us provide food, shelter, veterinary care, and round-the-clock love to animals who’ve lost everything. Duncan’s story is just one of many – but with your support, none of them have to face it alone.
Your gift today helps us keep the kennel doors open, the blankets warm, and hope alive.

Every pound makes a difference. Every life is worth it.
Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - Duncan recently underwent a health check at the vet. It was observed that he has conjunctivitis in his left eye, for which he is currently receiving daily eye drops. The vet has also suggested that Duncan receive a six month chemical implant instead of the castration procedure, considering his current nervous temperament. This procedure is currently pending as he requires a dose of Gabapentin & Trazadone, before his appointment, to help his nerves. He is up to date on his vaccinations, with his next booster scheduled for the 17th July 2027.
Am I good on the lead? Yes - Duncan is currently undergoing loose lead walk training
Do I have any fears? Not that we know of!
What are my exercise requirements? Up to 2 hours a day (due to his breed: Beagle X Spaniel) Engaging walks required
