About Tilly

Meet Tilly – looking for a quiet, patient home to call her own

Tilly is a complex little soul, but at her heart she is a loving, affectionate cat who simply needs the right person to help her feel safe. She adores company. Whether she's keeping her fosterers company in the kitchen while they cook, settled contentedly by a window nearby, or curled up on a lap, Tilly likes to be where her people are. She even brings "gifts" of her favourite red cushion or grey mouse, calling out proudly to let everyone know she's "caught" them! She loves playing in her tunnels, especially when there's a ball to chase inside, and she gives the very best nose rubs. Her anxious side Tilly came into our care after her owner sadly passed away, and she can be a very anxious girl. If she's caught unawares, for example by an unexpected stroke, a hand coming from the wrong angle, or being disturbed as she settles to sleep, she may lash out or snap. She sometimes swishes her tail even while purring, so her new owner will need to read her body language carefully. New situations and too much stimulation can overwhelm her. When she first arrived in foster she was sick for a full week while she adjusted, and thunder or fireworks can still unsettle her tummy. After a stray cat visited one of her favourite rooms, it took two weeks of gentle encouragement before she felt safe enough to go back in. She may also find being left alone difficult, possibly because of losing her owner. Tilly also has true tortie "tortitude"! If she doesn't want to do something, that's the end of it. She doesn't like to be picked up or moved from a favourite spot, and will make her feelings very clear if you try. The home Tilly needs • A quiet, calm, adult-only home with no children • No other pets – Tilly needs to be the only animal • An experienced cat owner who can read feline body language and respect her boundaries • Someone patient, who will give her plenty of time to settle and understand that trust will be earned slowly • An indoor home, or one with a secure catio – she shows no wish to go outside and would be very difficult to bring back in safely • Someone who is home a good amount and doesn't travel often, as regular stays in a cattery would be very stressful for her • An owner happy to manage her weight – Tilly needs a careful diet, so treats are mostly off the menu (much to her disappointment!) What you'll get in return With time, patience and understanding, we hope Tilly will become the loving, affectionate and settled companion she's longing to be. She has had a hard time, and she truly deserves a calm forever home where she can relax and be herself.

We will consider all rehoming enquires on a case-by-case basis however no busy roads please, unless you’d consider cat proofing or a catio.
