Thomas lives with a foster carer, so you meet Thomas after applying, not at the rescue's address.
Thomas is no longer on Croydon Animal Samaritans's website. We noticed on 20 October 2026. That usually means they've found a home.

🐾 MEET THOMAS — OUR SWEET LITTLE WORK IN PROGRESS 🐾
Thomas is a lovely, shy boy of around 2 years old who is looking for a very special home. ❤️
Thomas was part of a rescue of 3 adult cats and 6 kittens from a garden in Thornton Heath. We were concentrating on getting the mums and kittens to safety first, but Thomas had other ideas… he was absolutely determined to get himself into the trap and come along for the rescue! 😹
Understandably, Thomas was very nervous when he first arrived, but he has come on brilliantly in his foster home. He is still a shy and skittish boy, and he doesn’t enjoy being handled, so he is looking for someone who appreciates an independent cat rather than expecting a constant lap cat or lots of hands-on cuddles. This could definitely change with time though!
That said, Thomas has a softer side. ❤️
😻 He LOVES a really good scratch behind his ears
😽 He comes readily when you make kissing sounds
🐱 He gives lovely little meows when food is on its way
💗 We even get the occasional purr!
🎣 He loves his chirping bird toy that hangs behind the door
📦 He has adorable little zoomies and loves racing around and grabbing boxes
🐾 He enjoys playing footsies with the other cats under the dining room door
Thomas is becoming much braver. He’s now out of his little house more often than he’s in it, and he’s becoming increasingly comfortable around his foster family. He accepts neck and head rubs and is even much less bothered by people moving around him — he no longer gets out of the way when he’s eating, and will happily let us walk over his tail. 🥹
He also seems to be comfortable around the resident cat. The two of them will sometimes gently rub their heads together, almost like they’re shaking hands! Thomas definitely knows that the resident cat is the boss though. 😂
Thomas will be a work in progress, but that’s part of what makes him so rewarding. He needs someone patient who will allow him to build trust at his own pace.
🏡 Thomas is looking for:
• An cat experienced home
• No young children
• A home with direct access to a private garden
• We think he might like to be an only cat but he could potentially live with another friendly cat, provided introductions are done slowly and carefully
• Someone who understands that he may never be a super-affectionate, easy-to-handle cat — but who will appreciate him for the wonderful character he is
🍽️ Thomas also has a sensitive tummy and doesn’t get on with dry food. He does well with suitable wet food, so his diet will need to remain wet-food based.
Thomas has been neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated and is now ready to find his forever home. 🏡❤️
Please remember — Thomas needs someone who will let him come out of his shell in his own time. He may not be a cat who jumps straight onto your lap, but earning the trust of a shy cat like Thomas is incredibly special. ❤️🐾
Could you be Thomas’s person? 😻
